Now accepting 2010 applications. The Students of Integrity Scholarship offered by BBB Foundation and in conjunction with BBB's Business of the Year Torch Awards, is designed to support students who recognize the importance of ethical and responsible marketplace practices.
SCHOLARSHIP: A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded by BBB Foundation to one student in each state of Western Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
ELIGIBILITY: Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply
Attends an accredited high school in Western Washington, Oregon or Alaska (one winner per state)
A student of the 2010 or 2011 graduating class who will be attending college after graduation
Resides in Western Washington, Oregon or Alaska
Has a good academic standing and a GPA of 3.5 or higher
THEME: Maintaining ethics and integrity in a tough economy
RULES: Essays should be typed, double-spaced and include your name and high school's name in the header of every page. Be sure to discuss your viewpoints and give examples, where applicable. All fields in the form must be completed. Applications that do not follow these rules will be disqualified. An independent panel of judges will evaluate essays using the following criteria:
Relevance to the theme
Spelling and grammar
Readability and clarity
Organization
Overall portrayal of ideas
Creativity in presentation
PROCEDURE: Before beginning, read all instructions carefully.
Thoroughly fill out the application forms, including all required fields and signatures
Write an essay of 1,000 words or less (no more than 4 pages) discussing maintaining ethics and integrity in a tough economy
Have a faculty/staff member, counselor, employer or community leader complete a letter of recommendation and the corresponding form
Letter of recommendation may not be photocopied; must be personalized for this essay
All components of the application MUST be submitted at one time. Applications missing information will be deemed incomplete and will not be considered by the judges. No faxed or emailed applications, please.
DEADLINE: Must be postmarked by, Tuesday, December 1, 2009
