How to Apply for Business of the Year

  1. Companies can be nominated by the business owner, an employee, a customer or vendor. Please visit the nomination page if you are interested in nominating an outstanding business.
  2. Nominated companies that meet eligibility requirements will be sent an application packet and will be asked to submit an executive summary. Finalists will be selected based on their executive summaries.
  3. Finalists will be asked to submit a more comprehensive document explaining each criterion in more detail.
  4. Judges will make their final decisions based on the company’s entire application and an oral interview.

Executive Summary – General Overview of the Company
Describe your company’s product or service, your target market and geographical reach. This summary should include summaries of the criteria listed below, your company’s mission statement and any other general information explaining why your company merits consideration for the Business of the Year Award.

Criterion I – High ethical standards of behavior toward customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees and communities in which you do business
Define integrity as it relates to your company and the way in which you conduct business.

Criterion II – Excellence in Customer Service
How does your company ensure quality customer service with each and every customer?

Criterion III – Commitment to our Community
Describe the ways your company is committed to the community you serve. What specific community involvement projects has your company been involved in recently?

Criterion IV – Innovative Business Practices
How does your company distinguish itself from other businesses in your industry? What techniques, tools or systems have been developed to better enhance your product or service?
