Phone calls, emails and views on
bbb.org indicate that consumers are still inquiring to Better Business Bureau about
Universal Timeshare Sales Associates. This Beaverton-based timeshare resale and rental marketing company currently has 85 complaints—19 remain unresolved.
Complaints allege that the company offers to purchase timeshares on behalf of interested “buyers” and collects processing fees upfront, but fails to send contracts to sellers.
Since BBB serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington initially issued
No Vacation for Timeshare Owners in July 2011, more than 7,000 additional inquiries have been recorded on Universal Timeshare Sales Associates. Meanwhile, BBB is unable to locate proof of registration through Oregon Secretary of State.
“While we have not specifically documented the numerous email inquiries and phone calls, at least 10 to 15 times per year we are contacted by consumers that have been trying to reach this company … We would urge everyone to be extremely cautious when doing business with them,” says Lorraine Clarno, President and CEO of Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce.
If approached by
timeshare resellers, BBB advises caution. Be wary of upfront fees, get agreements in writing and thoroughly research companies before doing business.
