Mattress World Inc.—a local bedding and mattress retailer—announced plans to close all of its non-franchised Oregon locations in Portland, Beaverton, Clackamas and Tualatin.
Better Business Bureau serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington's records show that the company has accumulated 47 complaints in the last three years—with the majority filed in the last 12 months. BBB determined a pattern of complaints alleging delivery, refund and warranty issues.
According to a statement on mattressworldsuperstores.com, owner Sherri Hiner cites financial troubles as the primary cause of the closures and customer service issues; she encourages dissatisfied customers to contact the company, as Mattress World attempts to issue refunds before closing.
Franchises in Canby and Portland are independently owned and intend to continue operations.
