Planning a move can be a challenge. If you are moving across state lines, it can be even more difficult. The stress of relocating is one of the most daunting aspects of the relocation process, because it can pose possible financial and emotional strains.
Before hiring a company to assist you with finding your new home, your Better Business Bureau, suggests you know your rights and responsibilities.
What to look for in a HONEST relocation company:
- Has a passing grade with BBB / www.bbb.org
- Company has an active business license in the state they are operating business.
- Company has a website. You need to do your research before contacting companies. Search their return policy, testimonials, privacy policy, etc.
- Personal profiles of the owners/staff/employees
- Emergency contact information. Most of these companies have 24-hotline numbers or emergency cell phone numbers provided on their website
- A list of current available homes. Most companies offer a ‘teaser’ on their website of available homes for preview.
- Number of years in business.
- Reputable references. Can you contact these references?
REG FLAGS:
- Has a poor grade with www.bbb.org or the FTC.
- A company who does not have a website.
- A company who solicits on free websites like craigslist.com, etc.
- Who asks for your personal information before any other information.
- Who isn’t clear on their policies and does and will NOT provide a contract in writing.
- Testimonials / references that you cannot contact.
