Due to a recent data breach at Oregon State University, Better Business Bureau serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington reminds potential victims to take steps to avoid identity theft damage and monitor credit reports for unauthorized activity.
OSU officials reveal that thousands of students’ names, addresses, OSU identification numbers and Social Security numbers may be at risk; the compromised data primarily affects alumni and current students who received emergency student aid checks or payroll draws between 1996 and 2009.
Former and current students who have questions can contact OSU’s Office of Business Affairs security incident team at 541-737-1007 or email@example.com.
