Please review the photo requirements carefully, as photos that do not meet these requirements, will not be featured.

We will draw 15 companies each month, from the photo’s we have submitted to us. To get your company photo in the drawing, simply submit a photo that meets our criteria and a signed release to
administrator@thebbb.org.

Emotional Attributes

  • The subject should confidently face the camera.
  • The subject should appear approachable, helpful and trustworthy.
  • The shot should feel like the moment before or after a testimonial, like they are telling you with their eyes and expression why they are accredited by BBB.
  • The subject’s expression should involve an non-threatening demeanor, a genuine smile and contemplative look of confidence.
  • No salesman-like grins or exaggerated expressions
  • The image should not feel forced or hammy. It should have a natural documentarian feel, as if they just stopped for a moment in a normal day of their business

Formal Attributes

  • The photo should have a landscape orientation, (longer width than height).
  • Subject should be wearing simple clothing of either bright bold color or basic neutral colors. If possible the subject should be wearing something associated with their business (apron, jumpsuit, hard hat, necktie, etc…).
  • The subject should occupy the right half of the image, surrounded by an interesting but non-distracting background.
  • The image should show the subject from their mid-section (stomach) to the top of their head without any interference. There should be no elements in front of the subject.
  • The background should have elements that illustrate the nature of the subject's particular business. Ideally, the background should be slightly out of focus, though in focus is fine as well.
  • There should be no people in the background of the photo unless they are heavily blurred or their faces are otherwise not visible. The focus of the photo is the expression of the main subject, the member.
  • There should be visible background on all sides of the subject. Do not crop the subject on the left, right or top edges.

Things to Avoid

  • Avoid images that position the subject too close to the camera. It is important that the scale of the image show the subject from the stomach to the top of the head.
  • Avoid wide stances or arm gestures that break the halfway mark of the photo’s composition. The subject of the photo should be isolated on the right half of the image.
  • Avoid images that are too candid. Subjects should be looking directly into the camera or just slightly to the sides or above.
  • Avoid foreground images that break the silhouette of the subject. There should be no objects between the camera and the subject.

Please make sure to submit your image, and signed consent form to administrator@thebbb.org or fax to 206-436-5419 to be in the drawing for the 15 Accredited Business images that will be featured on a rotating basis each month!
